Easter Recap...

Dear ones and all; 4/5/2010

So the big Easter gathering has come and gone and we had such a great time this year, as always! These are just some of the highlights of the day:

  • Grandma had eggs for the kids to dye, baskets, candy and tattoos (she got one herself, ask her about it!)
  • Timothy and Tiffany put together a PiƱata for the first time (it was such a hit we all decided to make this a new tradition). NO WHISTLES NEXT YEAR OR CHEW CANS HAHAHA
  • Steve Washbon and his family joined us this year and provided all the bottled water, it is so great to have him and his family back in our lives!
  • The David Nehrig family were able join us and I understand David led in the hand ball matches! He says he won twice???????????
  • Seems that we don’t need 4 square rules anymore, so let’s have some handball rules posted, that way the girls know what the boys think is legal or not?
  • The Schedule of Events seemed to help out on any confusion except people did not notice the part of APPROXIMATE TIMES!
  • Basketball is an ‘All day event’ but I think if they go that long again without a score the game is over and let the handball begin! Do I have a second?
  • New comers this year were Bob and Wendy Tripp, Constance, Tiffany, Jason Jacobe, Ashlin, TK and Linda, two deputy’s, Rhianna and Washbon’s. Missed the John Boyer’s, (glad Tori was here), Clemente’s, Boyd’s, Aunt Laured, Jonathan, Brian and April, Joshua, Ford’s, Clarke’s and Russ.
  • Head count on the wall is 117! Good Size!
  • Great assortment of salad’s and desserts thanks to everyone for contributing to the menu!
  • Only three items left that haven’t been claimed, set of tongs, wood leaf bowl and mom’s Tupperware with cookies (the cookies are gone yummmmm thanks mom)
  • One little baby snake was caught and taken home by AJ, why does he get it every time?
  • When it comes time for the egg hunt the little kids all know who their favorite aunt is, I love bribes!
  • Thanks Uncle Ralph for getting the rock out of the pond! All fish and turtle have been accounted for, although some of the kids want to bring a fishing pole, which is over and above what we are willing to allow to make sure everyone is happy!
  • Thank you to all who helped clean up, that was awesome of all of you, we really appreciate it.
  • Big thank you to Justin, Jason, and Nolan for doing the BBQ, great job.
  • We all thought Uncle Ronnie’s rules of NO COMPLAINING AND NO WHINNING were a hit

So those are the highlights and remember “THANK YOU JESUS” is for everyday of the year. We love you and are already looking forward to next year! The Provost Family

Who needs a cruise????

We can party right here in HB. Especially, with our folks gone. HAHA

Okay, as of Saturday most of our folks will be on a ship floating far off at sea... If I get Grandma to leave a key under the mat, we can have a PARTY! while they are out. Come on, who's in??? Shoot, even P-town is Parent free....

No really, have a great time all those who are boarding. Don't let Titanic scary you, no glaciers in Mexico. Can't wait to hear the stories. Be sure to hit up the boom, boom room! (aka the dance floor). All the while, we will be here minding our manners and behavior while you are gone. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Aunt Francine!

P-Town in the house.... "Blog? I don't have a blog." -Jason S. YES! YOU DO. WELCOME!
Jason trying to get Evan to look towards the camera... what a tease.
Eye spy with my little eye a mystery little one. Timmy, Tiffany, Grandma Boyer, Jessica, Eli, Amanda, and (drum roll please....) GABI! She loves our Grandma and Grandpa Boyer.
Birthday Girl, Steph and Baylee. We really don't like our picture taken.
Celebrating her b-day, Aunt Francine found time to plant Grandma's plant. Such a giver :)

Can you count how many times you see Aunt Joanne?
Gabi also has a twin sister (seen below). Between exchange students, neighbor kids, and our family, that patio was full.
Kickball scoreboard: Big kids (including Uncle Ralph) = A LOT
3rd Generation = a little.

Wanna give it a TRI????

Hey family...
Just when you thought you'd seen the last of the Clark's for a while... we're BACK!!! Well, we'll be back in June for about 7 weeks in the good ole USofA... so we're looking forward to some more camping out in San Clemente, lunches at Grandma's, beach days, church services, and of course - Mexican Food!!!
But we've also found something we're keen to tri... the Carlsbad Triathlon on July 11th!!! Anybody else keen?? Here's the registration info:
City of Carlsbad - Registration

We're planning to register, but thought it would be even more fun if a few of us did it together!!!
Let us know if you're interested!!!
OH... and Amber found an HB Pier Swim scheduled for June 13th - but not much info on the website other than it's tentative and I guess registration will happen on the day - but we can keep that in mind too!!!

Hope you're having a happy Feb... we'll see you in a few months!

Roughin' It - Kiwi Style

Hi guys...I always thought Kiwi's were real outdoorsy, adventurous types who roughed it... but after 8 nights of camping I found out what their secret is - their camping style is easy!!! I thought you may get a kick out of some of these things we noticed while camping in NZ... and I'll say the Boyer/Nehrig camping set up is way more hardcore than any of this!!! But if you want to come to NZ and do a bit of camping... it'll be easy, here's why:

There's a way to do dishes at a sink using hot water!!! You just fill up your bucket from the laundry room and you're good to go!! If you're really soft you can just do the dishes in the kitchen! No more excuses for David's dirty spatulas, Amy, eh!?!!!

This is what you would consider 'typical' camp food, but really, this was the only day we ate sausages - and boy did they taste great!!! The other nights we cooked using our friend's electric frying pan... or the kitchen!!! But there were 3 built in gas bbq's in the common area plus some picnic tables so we didn't have to bring so much gear.

Now here's the part about Kiwi style camping that I was impressed with... our friends the Stanways are absolute legends!!! They brought their own BBQ set up in their own 'yard' by a garden mesh fence (you can just see it in the background) that they set along their tent and even closed off with a gate to keep their kids safely nearby when necessary... well thought out!!!

And this was the kitchen... two stove tops, two fridges w/freezers, two microwaves, two toasters... come on, folks!!! Is this really camping!?!? Well, I guess so and I guess this will make it much easier for us to want to come out in the future... forget all those propane tanks and slow campstoves... this is easy camping!!! (well, I should probably mention that the other sites had electricity and people actually had their own toasters, coffee makers, lamps, computers, dvd players, etc... but then one asks - is that a holiday?!? "YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT" is probably the resounding answer you'd hear!)

One night the ladies went out for coffee and dessert at a local cafe (yes, we were camping) while the guys stayed back to hold down the fort, take care of the kids and try their hands at Texas Hold 'Em... and wouldn't you know it, our very own Tony Clark came out the winner!!!

But no matter where you are or how you do it, camping puts you out in nature so you can be part of God's creation... and it's beautiful!!!

This campground even had this little see-saw near our site and the kids were always eyeing up who was there playing... Helena in particular liked to join in the big kids' fun, though she needed a bit of help from her bigger friends.

And no camping trip would be complete without a bit of wrestling over resources... here it was Caleb's bike... there was one bike and 3 boys who wanted to ride it: Caleb (almost 4), Will (just turned 3) and Hunter (almost 3). You can only imagine the negotiations around this one... but somehow they all managed to get a ride and Caleb was the sharing hero in my book! On another topic, Hunter recently started wearing these footie pajamas that got handed down from Travis - he LOVES them... thus the reason he's riding the bike in mid-morning with shoes on - it was hard going to motivate him to change into anything other.

Tony's dad got us a new tent for Christmas - but if we come camping in CA, we'll have to borrow again... this one's stuck in NZ.

I thought you'd notice something different - GRASS! Yes, they said a lot of campgrounds are located on grassy paddocks which meant a lot less mud on the kid's clothes (we totally over packed because I had San Clemente type dirt on the mind).

Notice Hunter's jelly smile... there's nothing quite like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when you're camping at the beach!
Anyway, I thought of you all and our good time at Leo Carillo last summer! I have always enjoyed camping with the extended family, so it feels fun to have camping as an option to do with our kids when we live in NZ... it's just a bit different from what I grew up with, but I think I can adapt! Wanna come over???
